Nvidia raises DGX Spark price by $700 due to “memory supply constraints”
Memory supply constraints have forced Nvidia to raise its system prices
NVIDIA has announced an increase in the MSRP of its DGX Spark AI development platform. Starting today, the system’s MSRP is now $4,699, a $700 increase from its original MSRP of $3999.
The DGX Spark is a system that’s powered by Nvidia’s GB10 Grace Blackwell Superchip, and features 128GB of unified CPU/GPU memory. This large bank of memory is the reason behind Nvidia’s price increase. Simply put, DRAM is more expensive today than it was a handful of months ago.
Nvidia says that it is facing “memory supply constraints”. The GDX Spark isn’t the only Nvidia product that is affected. Earlier this week, Nvidia’s CFO also stated that its Gaming products were also facing “supply constraints”.
We have adjusted the MSRP of DGX Spark (Founders Edition) due to worldwide constraints in memory supply. DGX Spark continues to offer industry-leading AI performance in an ultra compact desktop form factor.
What changed?
The MSRP for DGX Spark (Founders Edition) has been adjusted from $3,999 to $4,699 due to memory supply constraints
When did this go into effect?
The updated pricing went live this week.
Why was the price adjusted?
The price adjustment reflects industry wide memory supply constraints. DGX Spark continues to deliver industry-leading desktop AI performance and strong value relative to comparable AI infrastructure solutions.
Does this affect OEM pricing for GB10 systems?
This MSRP adjustment is for the NVIDIA DGX Spark, powered by GB10. Pricing questions for OEM GB10 powered systems should be directed to the OEM.
Why do I see DGX Sparks listed for $3,999 at other sites like Amazon and Microcenter?
We have adjusted pricing at NVIDIA.com. Other sales channels may take longer to reflect the change.
Are there any product changes associated with this price increase?
No. There are no hardware or configuration changes tied to this adjustment.
Does this affect global pricing?
Yes, the updated MSRP applies to all regions.
Does this impact existing orders?
No. The pricing applied at the time of ordering will be honored.
– Nvidia
Nvidia has confirmed that its price increase will only apply to new system orders. Existing orders will have their original pricing honoured. This MSRP update applies to all global regions. However, some retailers still list Nvidia’s DGX system at its original price. If you want one of these AI platforms, you best buy it now before their pricing is updated.
Honestly, this price increase was expected. With memory pricing as it is, it is only a matter of time before all products with large amounts of memory see price increases. Since the broader AI industry is the cause of today’s memory shortages, those who now have to pay more for a GDX Spark will have no sympathy from me. While it is never nice to have to pay more than you should, AI is to blame for this. Well, the people behind today’s AI push, if I were to be more accurate.
