Project Scorpio has been listed on Amazon

Project Scorpio has been listed on Amazon, stating that the console will be a true 4K console, hi-fidelity VR and offer full Xbox One backwards compatibility.

Sadly this new listing has not revealed any new information on Microsoft’s new console, though it does suggest that Microsoft is still aiming to support VR on their new platform.

This listing states that Microsoft is still aiming at a holiday 2017 release timeframe, which means that it should launch in at or before mid-November, especially if they want to take full advantage of pre-Christmas sales.

The Xbox One will be using an 8-core CPU like the Xbox One, with 320GB/s or memory bandwidth, which suggests that the Xbox One will be using a wider memory bus and faster GDDR5 or GDDR5X memory. The PS4 Pro has 218.8GB/s of memory bandwidth, giving Project Scorpio a huge performance advantage in this regard.

At this time not much is known about Microsoft’s new Scorpio games console, though the company has stated that it would feature a 6TFLOP GPU, which is a significant improvement over the PS4 Pro’s 4.12TFLOP offering.

This will make Project Scorpio over 4.5x more powerful than the Xbox One in terms of GPU horsepower, though at this time the system’s full specifications are unknown.

Eurogamer’s Digital Foundry have recently announced that they will be revealing Microsoft’s Xbox One Project Scorpio this Thursday at 2pm here in the UK (6am Pacific time), officially revealing some of the hardware and software improvements that will be available on this new console gaming platform.
