MSI to Release GX680 FHD Notebook with HD 6870 Page: 1

Systems’ manufacturer MSI has already made clear its intention of designing some gaming notebooks powered by Intel’s upcoming Sandy Bridge processors. The latest information on the line up is that MSI is working on yet another gaming notebook that will be powered by Sandy Bridge and feature the latest ATI Radeon HD 6870 graphics card.

The planned new notebook is the GX680 FHD – a 15.6in system with a 1920x1080 resolution FHD glare screen. The system will feature one of the new Intel Sandy Bridge processors – most likely the HM65 chip and a quad-core Core i7 2630 2.2GHz processor QM. While the core processor is likely to be left untouched, it should be possible to overclock the chip through the Turbo function. Wireless connectivity for the card will be in the form of an Intel Condor Peak 1000 wireless card with support for 802.11 b/g/n.

For storage, MSI will be putting in a 750GB hard drive with memory will be in the form of 2 4GB DDR II RAM. The main feature of the card though is going to be the newly released AMD ATI Radeon HD 6870 graphics card with 1GB of GDDR5 memory. The combination of Intel’s latest processor and AMD’s latest graphics card should prove to be an interesting and undoubtedly powerful one.

MSI will also be loading the laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium. The standard package will carry a GX680 FHD notebook, a notebook bag, mouse, and Assassin’s Creed II game. Gaming enthusiasts will have to shell out €1,799 for the notebook which is expected to become available in towards the end of February next year.
