OCZ announce DDR3 2000MHz version of their Flex II memory Page: 1
Flex II DDR3 PC3-16000OCZ add a DDR3 2000MHz memory kit to their Flex II range
Following on from their recent DDR2 Flex II press release that we detailed here, OCZ have now announced they are adding a lightning quick DDR3 PC3-16000 2000MHz kit to their Flex II memory series.
These premium modules run at incredibly fast 2000MHz speeds with timings of CL 8-8-8-26.  They runs at 1.9V and come with 1.95V EVP (Extended Voltage Protection) which allows performance enthusiasts to bump up the voltage to 1.95V without invalidating their OCZ Lifetime Warranty.  They also utilize the same hybrid water and passive cooling solution provided by the Flex II heatsinks.
"A data rate of 2GHz was unthinkable only a year ago,” commented Dr. Michael Schuette, VP of Technology Development at OCZ Technology. “Power consumption and heat generation directly follow the operating frequency; therefore, the thermal dissipation of these modules exceeds any specifications of the original design and requires the most advanced thermal solution that will reliably work under any conditions. Whether in a water-cooling environment or else under air-cooling conditions, the legacy of the Flex series continues with the Flex II design as the most advanced memory cooling solution for the fastest modules out there.”

This kit was one of OCZ's stars at this years CeBIT.  At that show they were rated to work at 2100MHz however, for the extra raw speed the latencies suffered ever so slightly.  So it seems these memory modules should easily reach 2100MHz but OCZ have decided to leave it to us to get these results ourselves.

OCZ say that the PC3-16000 Flex II memory modules are optimized for the latest cutting edge DDR3 platforms featuring the new Nvidia 790i chipset and will be available in 2GB (2x1024MB) dual channel kits.
As with the first incarnation of the Flex II series, this kit comes with everything straight out of the box that you would need to incorporate these modules in to your already existing water-cooling set up.  Included is:
Flex II Memory Kit
2 x 1/4" ID (inner diameter) barbs
3/8" and 1/2" Barb Adaptors
4-Way Manifold Barb
40" Plastic Tube
Now on to availability and pricing.  After having a short search around the web, I couldn't find a trace of them in any online retailer but I should think they will start to make an appearance within the next week or so.  If you wanted to purchase a set of these then its been reported elsewhere that you will be looking to pay somewhere in the region of €250.  If you want the best, you have to pay (quite a lot) for it.

I think OCZ are on to a real winner with this heatspreader design as if it works half as good as it looks then you'd have some pretty chilly memory.  That coupled with the supremely fast chips they cling onto makes for one desirable piece of kit.
