ASUS Cerberus Gaming Headset Review
Up Close
The Cerberus packaging so far has felt pretty cheap, but the headset is much more like what we’d expect an ASUS product to be. Everything is clearly laid out, easy to read and, like most headsets, the front is transparent allowing you a good look at what you’re getting.
Inside there are a couple of cable adaptors to ensure that the Cerberus is capable of plugging into anything that supports a 3.5mm jack. There is an inline remote for all your volume and mic-muting needs, although quite why it’s only about two inches of cable below the left ear-piece is beyond us.
Looks wise the Cerberus is fairly standard. Huge swathes of black plastic surround a headband which reminds us of the SteelSeries 5H range. The microphone is removable, and whilst there isn’t a lock as such it fits firmly enough that it wont come out even in the most head-throwing moments of temporary rage. You can see how little cable there is between the headset itself and the inline remote though. Â
The ear pieces are leatherette full cover offerings, which marry up to the closed back design to ensure that the only person who’ll hear what’s going into your ears is yourself. The microphone is flexible enough to fit wherever you please so you can shout instructions or obscenities are your leisure.
