Corsair Void RGB Elite USB Headset Review

Corsair Void RGB Elite USB Headset Review

Introduction

The Corsair Void range of headsets has long been one of the better offerings on the market, combining great audio fidelity with sturdy build quality and a few of those extra elements which are so beloved by the gaming masses.

We’ve previously reviewed the Void Pro and we found it to have good comfort and sound quality. The comfort was slightly lower than some other premium headsets as the unique ear cup design combined with slightly too much pressure in the wrong places led to a little bit of discomfort in particularly lengthy sessions. Equally the sound quality was fantastic, but at a time in which other premium headsets were offering expanded frequency responses it perhaps needed to be improved slightly to bring it more into line with flagship offerings from different brands.

The Void Pro has been taken back to the drawing board and revised into today’s review, the Corsair Void RGB Elite USB. This is one of three new Void Pro models in the Corsair range, with the Void Elite Surround being the £65 3.5mm wired model, an extra fiver (£70) giving you USB and RGB as in the model we’ve got in today, and for those of you who want to be free there is the Void RGB Elite Wireless which is available at £100.

Do the upgrades smooth off the tiny rough edges of the original Void? Let’s find out.

Technical Specifications

There are two main areas Corsair have sought to improve with the Void Elite when compared it its Pro predecessor. Firstly the Void Elite has better weight distribution and hinge calibration to give a more even comfort level. Secondly the drivers have been greatly enhanced from the more common 20Hz-20kHz to the 20Hz-30kHz 50mm drivers we find in the ear cups of the Void RGB Elite USB. These drivers appear across the whole of the updated Void range, so you don’t lose any sound quality just because you want a 3.5mm jack or a wireless connection. Lastly the microphone has been beefed up to improve vocal clarity, a key component of the modern world.
