As you would expect from a headset with so many speakers in the ear-pieces, the looks of the Kave XTD 5.1 Analog are completely dominated by the closed back ears. Leather covering adds an air of class to proceedings, and the embossed Roccat logo on the headband leaves nobody in any doubt as to the manufacturer.
Two of the big changes from the early Kave models to the latest XTD one, and it was true of the Digital model too, is how much plastic there is to help keep the weight down. There is a lot of vertical adjustment available to ensure maximum comfort.
Not everyone wants a microphone hanging around at all times, and the Kave XTD allows you to remove it easily should you wish to do so.
Connectivity lives up to the Analog title with four 3.5mm jacks attaching the Kave XTD 5.1 Analog to your soundcard/laptop. The USB is to provide lighting for both the microphone tip - used to indicate mute status - and the side of the headset. So if you haven't got a spare USB port the Kave will work just fine.
The inline remote is certainly a robust affair, with the ability to adjust the volume for each speaker, mute the microphone, adjust the EQ and, if necessary, turn it all off. Rather than force you to dangle it in your lap Roccat provide a stand that it slips into, so you can use it on your desk if you'd prefer.
