Asus Triton 75 CPU Cooler

Test Results

Test Results

Let's take a look at how the Asus Triton got on against the stock Intel Cooler and our trusty Scythe Infinity.

test results - stock

The Asus cooler kept pace with the Scythe Infinity at stock speeds and voltages. Passive, the Asus Triton 75 got far too hot at full load.

overclocked test results

At higher voltages the Asus Triton 75 does not idle as low as the huge Scythe infinity, but at load it seems to match it temperature wise. I did not attempt the Asus Triton fanless as I felt this would be suicide for my E6700. Notice that both of the 3rd party coolers swept past the Intel cooler in all tests.

I don't think the Asus cooler is a particularly good passive cooler, but you might just be able to get away with it if you stay at stock or undervolt (where's the fun in that??!! - Ed). However if you are wanting to overclock I would recommend adding a decent 120mm fan.

Nice review

I thought the perfomance would be better without a fan.Quote

Me too, but Asus themselves didn't seem to think anything was remiss so I suppose it's normalQuote

At least they're trying new designs, not just re-branding other companies stuff like a certain company.

Great job as ever kemp!Quote

Agreed and thanks

It's a nice design similar to Thermalrights SI-120 which is a nice coolerQuote

i like this, they've taken heatpipes, like on the scythe infinity, and done some sort of mash up with a thermalright SI 120 lol
