Fractal Design Node 605 HTPC Case Review

Packaging and Contents

The Node 605 comes packed in a plain brown heavy duty cardboard box, which as always reassures us that money has not been wasted on the fripperies of glossy packaging. Inside we find the case nestled in a clear polythene bag betwixt two large chunks of polystyrene. The odds are, in these days of internet shopping that the box the item comes in will also be the one it is shipped in, with no additional means of protection from the gentle hand of the currier being added. We're pleased to say that in this instance the Fractal Design Node 605 arrived unharmed.

Once out of the box we find that along with the case itself we also have a small black box containing screws and accessories, along with a set of instructions.

With fellow Swedish designers IKEA along with many others these days favouring the "picture rich text light" form of instructions it's unusual to see a set of instructions which is primarily text based. Not a problem as such, as there is also a large exploded diagram to help guide, supported by the text itself being clear and comprehensive.

This might be a nice case for my dads pc that I'll be building in a few months... he wants something really compact. I'll have to read through this once I get home! Quote

Nice review, im loving fractals gear from the past year or so.

Any idea if a h100 could fit along the left hand side ?

(edit)

I guess it should looking at the specs - 164mm height and the h100 rad is 120mm, might need a bit of modding though...Quote

Who the heck has a VHS now days?

But it does look like a nice clean and functional/preforming case.
Not often you get them all together you either have looks or air flow.

I really would be interested whether space between Mobo and inner-side of the case is wide enough to fit 27mm deep radiator for water AIO cooling. I would place a fan outside with dust filter on top of It. I did write to Fractal Design, unfortunately no response. Would reviewer be so kind to measure It for us? posibleQuote
