NZXT Kraken X61 Review

NZXT Kraken X61 Review

Introduction

Having recently looked at the X41, as promised we’re now going to have a look at the larger 280mm radiator based X61 from NZXT.  At first glance there doesn’t appear to be a huge amount of difference between the X61 and the older X60.  Certainly the X61 has a the new variable speed pump but as we said in our review of the X41, we’re not wholly convinced of the benefits this is claimed to bring, and unlike the X41 which boasts an increase in radiator thickness over the X40 the X61 which is only 2mm thicker than the X60 remains to all intents and purposes the same thickness.  Perhaps the revised FX V2 fans will make all the difference, however as the figures given by NZXT show them with a slightly higher airflow but lower static pressure than the fans on the X60 we have our doubts, and, it has to be said, more than a few concerns.  Well, there’s only one way to find out isn’t there?  The good old OC3D torture tests.
