In a similar way to graphics cards, the higher the resolution the better than the high end product performs, whereas at lower resolutions - and thus less strenuous tasks - the higher clock speed can make the difference. Even so it is a surprise how relatively poorly the two 2nd Gen Threadrippers perform in our video encoding benchmarks.
