ASUS ROG Maximus Z690 Hero Review

ASUS ROG Maximus Z690 Hero Review

Introduction

When we first received the huge number of Z690 motherboards for our 12th Generation Intel launch, the Maximus Hero was the product we used as the baseline motherboard for the new processors and chipset. We largely felt that, given past history, the Hero was going to be a pricy product which didn’t really fit in any particular box. After all, the gaming focussed users love the Strix, those with tight budgets go for the TUF, and anyone with the money for the Hero version of the Z690 Maximus will probably save the extra little bit of cash to get themselves the Formula.

However, what we felt prior to launch was quickly turned on its head when we discovered both the price of the Z690-E Strix, and the Z690 Maximus Hero we have here. With barely £20 between them and the significantly better specifications on the ROG Maximus Hero it moved from being the motherboard that nobody would probably choose, to being the one that anyone interested in an ASUS motherboard as the basis for their next system would be made not to choose. It’s a total no-brainer. Thus we felt that it deserved a spotlight all of its own rather than being shuffled away beneath the processor launch.

Sit down with your beverage of choice and take a moment to appreciate all the effort ASUS have gone to with the Maximus Hero. View it with fresh eyes so to speak. Let’s do it to it.
