ASUS Z170 Maximus VIII Hero Review

Test Setup

Republic of Gamers Maximus VIII Hero
Intel Core i7-6700K
Nvidia GTX980 Ti
Gskill Ripjaws V 3600MHz
Kingston HyperX Predator 480GB M.2
Custom Corsair 540 Air (case)
Corsair H110i GTX
Corsair RM750i
Windows 7 x64

Overclocking

In our initial Skylake Review we got to grips with all the extra overclocking options the 6700K has to offer, the Hero just made seeking out the limits of our CPU that much easier and quicker. We had our CPU overclocked and testing in no time at all with a 50X multiplier and 350 BCLK at the top of the inndividual results.

For the combined clock we went with 21x 230BCLK for a 4830 MHZ max CPU clock, with the memory also overclocked at 3677MHZ and the CPU Cache running at a hefty 4600MHz. This will be the speed we'll use in our overclocked results. Tasty.

Power Draw

As this is so early in our Skylake testing schedule its difficult to tell exactly how good this result may or may not be. but when running OCCT Linpack the system pulled 177 watts from the wall and this was including the GTX980 Ti providing the graphics.
