With so many motherboards around there can be a temptation to ignore the regular models and focus upon the named ones. Why have a plain old Z170A when you can have a Maximus VIII Extreme? Sure it might sound more impressive in your forum signature, but the reality is that you're paying a price-premium for the brand name without necessarily gaining anything concrete from it.
Admittedly in the old days there was a massive difference between a Biostar and a DFI Lanparty, but the quality of the Intel chipsets is such that those days are behind us.
So, is it possible to save yourself a little money and obtain a motherboard that has all the features you could ever hope to have whilst only losing meaningless cachet from your signature? The ASUS Z170 Deluxe is here and we are about to find out.
If you have even a passing interest in PC Hardware then a glance at the specifications will find you mentally ticking off all the boxes. We have the display outputs that take full advantage of the Intel iGPU. Alongside that nearly everything comes from the "massive bandwidth" section of the parts store. USB 3.1 in both A and C types. Dual band WiFi. Bluetooth 4.0. Front USB 3.0. DDR4 support up to a massive 3733MHz. The ludicrously fast NVMe M.2 storage options and three PCI Express 3.0 slots.
In short, this has everything you could desire, some stuff you didn't even know you wanted, and all of it runs balls to the wall.
