ASUS Z370 Maximus X Hero Review

ASUS Z370 Maximus X Hero Preview

Introduction

The ASUS Maximus range of motherboards has always been about the big market chipsets from Intel whilst the Rampage tends to stick to the high-end expensive option.

This means that the Maximus has a lot to live up to, because a broader, larger, user base will naturally have more individual requirements than those who are just looking to empty their bank account in the quest for perfection. A great model for the masses is the hardest task of all because you need to give everyone the features they lust after on high end items whilst keeping the entry price in the ‘attainable for people other than City Bankers’ bracket.

Fortunately this tricky balance is something that ASUS have handled with aplomb and the Maximus range has been a particular highlight in recent years. The Hero variant in particular nails the sweet spot in the range of the sweet spot in the ROG range. It is, to borrow an old Dr Hook song, the sweetest of all.

Technical Specifications

As you would expect to find in a product which combines the very latest Intel chipset, the Z370, with the Republic Of Gamer design trimmings you end up with a motherboard which sports every major technology and customisation option that you can think of. BIOS Flashback and rear mounted Clr CMOS buttons work alongside the onboard power and reset buttons to make fine tuning your setup an absolute breeze. The combination of AC WiFi and Intel I219-V keep you connected to the world whilst dual M.2 sockets and umpteen USB ports ensure that your devices work to their fullest capacity at all times. Combine the multi-GPU support and the SupremeFX audio with the AUDA Sync lighting and 3D printed mounts and you can be sure that things will look as nice whether you’re looking at your monitor or staring in through the side window.
