ASUS Z9 PE-D8 WS Dual Xeon Insanity E5-2660 & E5-2687W

Test Setup and Temperatures

Dual Xeon Insanity

Test Setup

2x Intel Xeon E5-2687W
2x Intel Xeon E5-2660
ASUS Z9 PE-D8 WS
2x Corsair H100
2x Corsair Vengeance 32GB
2x Corsair Force 3 GT 480GB
Corsair AX1200
4x Noctua NPF12
ASUS HD7970
Little Devil PC - V4 Test Bench
Catalyst 12.3
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit

As you can see it's a hell of a setup. Everything one could hope to find, barring a massive RAID array of course. Our test setup is identical with both sets of CPUs. It's worth noting that we are only using one HD7970 for our testing, but we stuck two in the board for the photo because we had two of everything else.

Temperatures

Because the H100/Noctua combination is so good, and the Xeons so careful at drawing power, even with Linpack stressing them as hard as possible we only reach 44°C maximum. Demonstrating the silicon lottery aspect you can see that CPU 2 is a lot cooler than CPU 1. Although neither could be described as hot.
