CineBench R11.5
If there is one set of tests that demonstrate why people like Pixar focus on sheer weight of cores rather than fast processors, it's CGI and CineBench R11.5 shows this with a 20 pt and 25 pt result. To watch it in action, all 32 threads of it, is even more impressive than this number indicates.
POV-Ray
POV-Ray, the freeware ray-tracer, gives us a nice indication of how much power you're getting from each individual core with the Pixels Per Second, per CPU result. It's no surprise that this is very clock based, hence the E5-2660 getting the lowest result in our graph and even the E5-2687W only just edging the i7-970. Of course this isn't just about single-core efficiency, and the sheer volume of cores available helps the Xeons stand proud at the top of the charts.
