3DMARK CPU Benchmark

This may be our clearest look at how Eco Mode impacts the performance of AMD's Ryzen 9 7950X. We see that single-threaded, dual-core performance, and quad-core performance are practically identical in all modes, but in higher threaded workloads, all-core clock speeds drop and performance suffers. This is especially true in this benchmark's 16-thread and all-threads test.

With this benchmark result in mind, it makes sense why our gaming results look the way they do. Games typically benefit from high levels of single-threaded performance and rarely benefit from having access to more than eight CPU cores. For gamers, Eco mode on AMD's Ryzen 9 7950X will have a minimal impact on performance.

That was a nice review, though the title really didn't prepare me for it. I thought it was just a short note about Eco mode, and it wasn't until I got to the bottom of the first page and saw that there were quite a few others that I realised it was more than just a note.Quote
