Gigabyte X570 Aorus Pro Review

Gigabyte X570 Aorus Pro Review

Introduction

Please note this review was written prior to the AGESA F6b BIOS update. Our graphs have been updated to reflect the new results, but the text remains the same as the fast single threaded stock performance affects so few of our results and none of our overall opinion.

One of the sticking points of the X570 release has been the necessary price increase that comes from including such cutting edge technologies. Hardware components aren’t cheap and the combination of the needs of the power phases to be able to handle the current twelve core Ryzen 9 3900X and the upcoming 16 core R9 3950X, coupled to the hardware necessary to power the huge bandwidth available from PCI Express 4.0 have upped the average price of a X570 motherboard considerably from its predecessors.

Gigabyte have brought a whole range of models into their Aorus range to cover all price points. We’ve reviewed the premium Xtreme, the high end Master, and the ITX Pro. Today we’re taking a look at the model that will probably find a home in more systems than most thanks to an attractive price point, the Gigabyte X570 Aorus Pro.

As always we’re going to take a look at the specifications, the motherboard in the flesh, before seeing how it compares to its contemporaries. Eyes down for a full house.

Technical Specifications

Whereas the Master, like the Xtreme, has all of the latest technologies on board for the ultimate enthusiast, the Pro doesn’t diminish the important features whilst not making you pay a high price for elements you cannot take advantage of, such as the 2.5 GbE LAN or 802.11ax WiFi. It’s very much the mainstream offering. There is no compromise on the power delivery with a 12+2 phase IR solution. Just like the Master the Pro is equipped with the latest generation of Gigabyte heat sinks that combine a high thermal throughput heat pad and high fin density cooler. We’ll look at that in more detail on a subsequent page. There are also two M.2 slots, 3 PCI Express 4.0 slots and the latest USB 3.2 Gen2 for all your compatible devices.
