It’s still hard to believe that most of us carry in our pockets a 4K video camera, but one only needs to glance at the amount of content available on the internet from simple cat videos through to incredibly complicated films and gaming footage to realise how important fast video encoding is and the x.265 benchmark does a good job of testing that. We've left the 10980XE and 9980XE in the graph just to show how near these new CPUs get to the massively expensive ones that preceded it.

But on a more serious note, at least until 4th gen Ryzen, that's pretty hard to beat for a gaming setup.
Binning and the stock situation of 10900k makes me think of it as a halo product with pretty scarce availability.Quote
