i5-6600K Overclocking

Overclocking on Sklylake may look all new to any new enthusiasts to the overclocking club but to us old boys with BCLK overclocking back with a vengeance, full blown memory options with a wealth of multiplies to give us lots of options to tie in with the BCLK and then CPU Cache clocking too to really help unlock the performance of the other two it actually feels like we are back working with X58 again or even P55. The CPUZ is not showing the correct voltage due to an early Asus BIOS (now fixed we are told) but our max for the main overclock was 1.v volts and temps went no higher than 72C.

BCLK Maximum

Working on BCLK alone we managed to eek out 280BCLK yes two hundred and eighty. 280!!!

Multiplier Maximum

Multiplier clocking alone is obviously what we have been more familair with recently and on the i5 we found 49 to be a maximum.

Overclock Settings

We you try to overclock everything at the same time we found 190 BCLK x 25 for 4.75GHz to be our maximum while running 3293MHz memory and the cache sitting at 4560Mhz!

Will be interesting to see how much the CPU actually makes a difference in gaming with a dedicated GPU Quote
