i7-6700K Overclocking

With the i5 overclocks taking away our Skylake cherry we set to work on the i7 with a little better knowledge on what volts are what, do what and when we needed them to do what they do better. You know what we mean right? Good. Again the same BIOS issue with CPUZ showing the Vcore (fixed for retail boards) but our max voltage was 1.35v and we saw temps around 78c maxed out.

Maximum BCLK

The i5 set our expectation high but the i7 proved why it has the crown with a hefty 350 BCLK as al all out focused maximum.

Maximum Multiplier

Multiplier maximum was 50, gone are the days when 40 seemed amazing.

Overclock Settings

Putting everything together we settled with a 200 BCLK tied into a 24 multiplier giving us 4.8GHz with 3600MHz memory and 4.4GHz cache.

Will be interesting to see how much the CPU actually makes a difference in gaming with a dedicated GPU Quote
