MSI MPG B650 Carbon WiFi Review
Up Close Continued
Don’t worry, we didn’t slip up when we said the Carbon has six SATA ports. There are just four here in horizontal mode, next to the Type-A front panel header.
Here are the other two SATA ports. You’ve also got another fan header, the front panel connectors that give your case life, two USB 2.0 front panel connectors and, finally, yet another pair of fan headers. You’re certainly not short of cooling options here.
Lastly on the bottom left corner we have a switch that lets you disable all the RGB in one click, as well as the Mystic Light RGB header and the separate board trace for the audio.
Removing all the M.2 heat spreaders shows how many the MSI B650 Carbon has on its PCB. Far gone are the days when you might get one, and two if you’re really lucky.
Although we don’t yet know the configuration of the Power Stages, the VRM heatsinks are certainly chunky boys. Often a more affordable motherboard scrimps on these heatsinks but MSI have gone all in. It’s good to see and should pay off in testing.
Lastly the backplate, often the spot that gives away how much a motherboard costs, has a raft of USB ports alongside the HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 ports. With 2.5G LAN, WiFi 6E, and the audio connectors you won’t be left short of options when plugging things in to the B650 Carbon.
