MSI X470 Gaming M7 AC Preview

Introduction

So far we've looked at the flagship motherboard from ASUS and Gigabyte that are accompanying the Pinnacle Ridge launch and, being the hardcore enthusiasts we are, we want to take in all the upcoming news and information we can. Ergo, we have to see what MicroStar International are bringing to the party in the form of their flagship motherboard for the new generation, the MSI X470 Gaming M7 AC.

Technical Specifications

Looking down the specifications list for the X470 it's clearly extremely similar to the X370. This is a case of evolution not revolution, with the X470 chipset looking to improve the overall efficiency and feature set of the Ryzen architecture without entirely resetting the design. As always showing is more interesting than telling, so let's get up close and personal with the Gaming M7 AC.

On page 4, the last photo of the lighting...is that...is that lighting on the back of the board?

Like does it shine through to the front of the mobo or strictly on the back of the board? I know I'll know the answer next week when reviews can go live but I'm impatient when it comes to noticing odd things Quote

Decent looking board, nice spec. Really don't like the dragon, at all. Cue vinyl wrap in 3-2-1.....Quote

I have the X370 version of this board and it's really good and the dragon looks pretty good IRL. The main disappointment though is the RGB is more procarbon rather than the X370 but i do like how the wifi is built in rather than an ad on card like mine.
The biggest issue that I have with MSI is their RGB implementation is GARBAGE they need much better software control than they have ATM./Quote
