MSI Z590 MEG Ace Review

Recent times have seen MicroStar International - MSI to everyone - split their motherboards into two distinct categories. On the one hand we have their MPG models which tend to be the more affordable ones they do, whilst in the upper echelons we find their MEG range.
If it's Z590 launch day then it must be time for yet another motherboard review, and as well as the MSI MPG Carbon which you can read about elsewhere, we have the MSI Z590 MEG Ace available to us which comes with plenty of bells and whistles as well as a nifty black and gold colour scheme.
Before we even get to the pictures you can just glance at the one at the top of this page and take in the attention to detail that has gone into the power phase heatsink and thus get a feel for the level at which the MEG Ace is working. Without further ado, let's find out what it brings to the party.
The majority of the Z590 motherboards we've looked at have very similar specifications. Intel have consolidated so much of the features onto the chipset that there isn't a lot of wiggle room for vendors to do their own thing. However, notable differences on the MEG Ace when compared to its MPG Carbon cousin are; an even higher overclock on the DDR4, up to a whopping 5600 MHz. 5 PCI slots in total with three of them falling into the PCIe 4.0 category. 4 M.2 NVMe slots ensuring even those of you with more storage than most won't be left wondering where to put all of your drives and, of course, the Thunderbolt 4 which supports a massive 40G transfer speed if you have the hardware to utilise it.
