Curious synchronicity that both the affordable Nvidia card we reviewed yesterday and the new AMD Radeon RX 7600 today both have very minimalist packaging designs.

Who doesn’t love a nice box with a welcome message? It might seem silly to be treated nicely once you’ve already spent the money, but to us it helps us feel less like consumers and more like a community. At this end of the price spectrum it’s these little things that make us feel good.

Small, isn’t it. We’ve been doing this so long that things which might seem obvious to us might not to others. When it comes to affordable systems one of the first things to go when squeezing under a budget is a gigantic case. You wouldn’t buy a Lian-Li PC-011D XL on a shoestring budget, and smaller cases mean the need for smaller graphics cards. Suddenly the RX 7600s tiny proportions make a whole heap of sense.

Just because it’s affordable doesn’t mean you have to go without a backplate, even if this one is more for show than for any heat-spreading capabilities it might possess.

On the subject of fitting in to an overall budget consideration, the use of an 8pin PCIe power connector makes the RX 7600 compatible with all the PSUs. No need to bust the budget on a fancy ATX 3 one.

Lastly the HDMI and DisplayPort outputs, including the DP 2.1 that has as much throughput as you’ll need for the next few years.
