ASUS GTX980 Strix Review

Tomb Raider

A change is as good as a rest, so we're almost relieved to see the Strix somewhere other than at the top of the pack. It's still much better than the reference card and gains a lot from the overclock. The more things change...

Nice review and comparing the 980 to 970 results I would question for those running 1080p is the extra £ for the 980 worth itQuote

The price difference for the cards is substantial, but when you're looking at the cost of entire systems each one is going to come in much closer to the same £/performance mark. And really, that's the most logical way of looking at it. Your PSU is one of those things you have to buy, but it's not going to give you any better framerates. Nor is your harddrive, your case, or most of the other things you spend money on.

To illustrate the point: PCPartPicker's current $1000 and $1200 pre-configured builds sport a 970 and 980 respectively at the moment. The 970 build is still slightly better price/performance, but the difference is massively smaller than looking at the cards directly.Quote
