ASUS RTX 3070 TUF Review

ASUS RTX 3070 TUF Review

Introduction

In our endless quest to recover all the reviews that we’d written prior to the OC3D Server giving up the ghost and taking all December’s work with it, we’re now on to the graphics cards and the ASUS RTX 3070 TUF. A card with a triple fan cooler, some subtle RGB lighting, an all metal shroud and a very attractive price tag. There is a lot to like about it, particularly as the RTX 3070 is the sweet spot of the Nvidia Ampere range, blending affordability with excellent performance.

The ASUS TUF range is a strange beast. We’ve had some rip-roaring successes but recently we tested the RTX 3060 Ti model and found it good, but very much overpriced. The 3070 is thankfully much closer to the other models available on the market and so, as long as the performance is good, will be a product we look at more kindly than we did the 3060 Ti. After all, the only issue with that was the cost, and we know that’s not a problem on this particular card.

Technical Specifications

The TUF has two different modes, the OC mode for those of us who always want to push the possiblities further, and a regular mode that is only a hair slower but will help keep the temperature a little cooler. Obviously we’re running it in the OC mode for our testing, because we’re nothing if not big fans of performance.
