The Phoenix packaging grabs your attention instantly for two very obvious reasons. Firstly its art is in portrait mode rather than landscape, almost unique amongst boxes. Secondly the Phoenix moniker seems to be a very late addition to it. We hope they didn't make the common mistake of spelling it Pheonix.

Erm, guys. Isn't the cooler supposed to be red? This definitely isn't red. Leaving aside the curious colour for the moment the cooler is gorgeous with plentiful heatpipes cooled by three large fans and all wrapped up in a lovely metal shroud. It's disappointing to see it being longer than the already large PCB, but it's a work of art.

The details of the Phoenix really shine when you look closely. It perfectly matches the dual-slot form factor and the angular nature of everything is a sharp contrast to the more rounded edges that we usual find adorning polygon-munching weapons.

We know some of you might be thinking this salmon pink colouring is merely a by-product of our camera or lighting, no. It's intended to be the same red that we find on everything from motherboards to memory, yet as you can see from this stick of Vengeance RAM, the pink hue is definitely a Gainward thing.

I recall a disasterous EVGA motherboard having pink pcie slots that shall remain nameless. Your review of the board didn't go down too well with EVGA either Tom Quote

Anyways we have a GTX980 Ti Classi coming up soon but the lack of them is all down to EVGA and me not wanting to perfect corporate fellatioQuote
