Gears of War: Ultimate Edition PC Performance Retest with Crimson 16.3 Drivers

1440p Testing with AMD R9 Fury X and Nvidia GTX 980Ti

We can see at 1440p that AMD performance gets a lot better, moving up to solid 60Hz gameplay until we move up to Medium settings where the game has a few infrequent framerate drops.

Nvidia still has the performance advantage in this game, but AMD's situation had improved greatly, with minimum framerates improving enough to make the game very playable.

At high settings we see the average framerate of the game increase by over 11FPS, with the biggest dips in framerate no longer dropping to single figure numbers like previously.

Shame about the framerate cap, but good to see it's very playable now.
But what the heck about that AMD 4K performance, AMD should do as good as if not better than Nvidia right now on DX12, so that reeks of more underlying issues with the game.
At least now I know I could pick up the game if I wanted, I have a GTX 970 atm so I should be able to run it just fine.Quote
