MSI GTX 1080 Gaming SLI Review

Unigine Valley

We saw in our review of the MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X how the GP104 GPU doesn't have 1080 performance reflective of its overall capabilities, so for our SLI tests we've sorted by the highest detail, 1440P with 8xMSAA, and clearly the GTX 1080 in SLI adores higher resolutions and detail levels. This love for strenuous activity is shown in sharp relief in the 4K benchmark, where the MSI strolls off into the distance.

Man, SLI looks appalling to my eyes. Either it's completely overkill unless you're at 4K—and even then it's sometimes not necessary (Tomb Raider)—or it doesn't work at all and in fact hinders your performance.Quote

Nice review Tom. I like it that you are advising people on getting a decent PSU Kudos fella Quote

A nice reminder that multi GPU setups should be avoided if possible. 1070 vs RX480 CF keeps getting more and more angles.Quote

So I have an interesting request...

Could we get the power draw for a locked / adaptive sync'd 60fps at 1080p / 1440p ?

Since 1080p is SO easy for these cards, It'd be interesting to know what watts you need to maintain solid 60fps performance (and the heat that generates).Quote
