MSI RTX 4070 Ti Gaming X Trio White Review
Up Close
Sometimes you get a box that just screams classy, and the Gaming X Trio is one such piece of packaging. The holographic effect on the text, coupled to the simplicity of the design, looks glorious.
If you love the box enough that you wish you could replicate it on your desk, the included mouse mat ticks that box. We’re always keen on a free gift.
The Tri Frozr design of the Gaming X Trio will be familiar to anyone who has seen an MSI triple fan cooled GPU before. When something works, why change it? Some silver has crept in to give a little bit of contrast but it’s still primarily a white graphics card and thus will fit perfectly into your bright white system design. The fans are heavily swept 9 bladed designs, all identically sized and with the famous MSI Dragon logo in the centre.
Backplate design is always a difficult subject to get right. Most people have their cards horizontally and so this is the part you see the most, and with the MSI Gaming X Trio you’ll be pleased to look at it. The combination of white and silver cross hatching and the bright white MSI Dragon logo look gorgeous, and the vents on the right hand side look exactly like a dragon has clawed them from the backplate.
There is plenty of space between the backplate and the fan shroud to get all that hot air moving away from the card as quickly as possible. You can also see the indent in the backplate that holds the switch to move between Gaming and Silent modes.
Looking at it from the underside emphasises how the silver and white work together to give some texture to the design without compromising it’s primarily white colour scheme. You can also see how heavily finned the heatsink is, one of the key elements to the Tri Frozr design. Extra points for the white cables that connect the fans to the PCB.
