Overclocking

Speaking of developing things that they then don't take advantage of, the GTX 1060 doesn't support nVidia GPU Boost 3.0. With mid-range cards being aimed squarely at the fit-and-forget brigade it's curious that nVidia have developed something which works as flawlessly as the latest iteration of GPU Boost, only to not include it.

So it's back to the old overclocking methods, and the GTX 1060 certainly responds to being given a kick up the posterior.

400MHz over and above the stock card is unbelievably good, particularly given the single fan nature of the cooler. Excellent stuff, which only makes the inability to run a pair of these in SLI even more galling.

£275 too spenny. Is that from Nvidia's site for the FE?

Nice card but it literally comes down to the pennies with this and the 480s. Literal pence between them.

Edit. Went to Nvidia no date. I predicted this but from what I was hearing I was all prepared to be wrong. So I will stand by what I said - Vapor launch.Quote

Mindfactory has stock for five aftermarket cards.
It starts at 279€ in germany for an acceptable card, which is a tenner more than an 8GB reference 480, if i were in the market i'd probably get that over a 480. In a week or two they'll probably be down to ~260€. But there are also cards like the Strix OC for up to 350€, that's just too much money.Quote
