Power Draw and Temperatures
Performance is all well and good but special credit needs to be paid to the design team who concentrate upon efficiency. Given the wildly increasing numbers we saw in our benchmarks you’d imagine that the newer cards also had enormous power draw, but all bar the RTX 3080 Ti are below 500W at the wall, even on our Core i9-13900KS we’re using for today’s feature.
Similarly the beefy cooler on the RTX 4000 series demonstrates its worth in the temperature stakes, being down with the GTX 1070 and GTX 1060, despite having so much extra performance its like they’re from different planets.
