Nvidia RTX 2060 Review

Test Setup and Overclocking

nVidia RTX 2060 Review

Test Setup

The RTX 2060 is a card that is all about its ability to pump out smooth frame-rates at the popular 1920x1080 resolution and thus, for the first time on the RTX cards, we're sorting our graphs by the 1080P result instead of 4K.

Nvidia RTX 2060
Intel i7 6850K
ASUS X99 Strix
Corsair ROG Dominator Platinum 3200
Corsair RM1000i
Corsair LX 512GB OS
Corsair LS 480GB x2 Raid0 Games
Corsair H100i V2
Windows 10

Overclocking and Boost Clocks

The cooler on the RTX 2060 gives you a reasonable amount of headroom with which to play, and the card - as we'll see in a moment - rewards you pushing it hard. Nvidia's OC Scanner technology also works very well here, overclocking to the same peak boost clock as we managed with our manual overclock, whilst not being too far away in the overall average clock speed that really determines how smooth your gaming experience will be.

I think this is the best graphics card we've had in a while. It's actually improved price/performance while also reducing TDP slightly. Even the cooler has improved. It performs roughly on par with the GTX 1080 in older DX11 games that usually favoured Nvidia's older Pascal architecture, but slightly beats the 1080 in newer DX12 games. The price isn't great, but it's an improvement over the previous generation and I'll take it. AMD is missing a big market here, but I understand they have to wait until 7nm can be manufactured on a large enough scale on a budget.Quote

There is 14% at 1366x768, 3.62% at 1440x900, 3.57% at 1600x900, 2,55% at 1680x1050 and some using niche resolutions such at 2560x1080, 3440x1440 etc.

A lot of this data can be seen on the Steam hardware survey.

It's really surprising to me that 1440p only makes up 4%! Thought it'd be much higher.

On topic the card looks like a very good option!Quote
