Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti Founders Edition Review

Gears 5

A game where we always mentally add “of War” to the title, the most recent addition to the Gears franchise saw The Coalition stick rigidly to the formula that has made this title a success on the Xbox. It’s more of a ‘best of’ than a new title, but still brings all the graphical glory to your screen as befits a game aimed at the console market. With everything turned up to ten the graphics can bring even beefy systems to their knees.

Kinda changed my mind about these cards since the review, but come january time these are in for a shout if they are in stock, as is the 3070/80 and 6800/XT would prefer the 6800XT but the way things are with stock who knows

It's mainly cause the RT performance is basically on par with the 6800/XT and way cheaper and for me at 1080p these are pretty much all I'd need, but we'll see come next year how stock pans out they will sellout fast no doubt.Quote

Definitely sounds like the 3060Ti would better suit you than a 6800. It'd be a phenomenal 1080p card.

Nvidia definitely delivered here. It's basically wasted the 3070, 2080S and 2080Ti. There's still room for the 3070 in the product stack, but barely. I would personally rather spend less and get a 3060Ti and more on something else, like more storage or better system fans. If I were on a GTX 970 or 1060, or an AMD equivalent, and I gamed at 1080p or 1440p, I don't see any reason to wait for AMD. I can't imagine they'll outshine Nvidia here. They had the chance with the 6800 range and they didn't.

Still, it's exciting to think how AMD will rebuke the 3060Ti. I wonder will they try to make the 6700 $450 and the 6700XT $500. I can't see how that would compete if they did that though. The 3060Ti is so close to the 3070 that it doesn't leave much room for a $450 6700 and a $500 6700XT to exist. I hope AMD try to undercut Nvidia can go $300-400 for the 6700 and 6700XT, and offer better performance per dollar than the 3060Ti, or at least equal it.Quote

Will be good when you can get these. Does make a mockery of the 3070, especially with it lacking VRAM.

I doubt this would exist yet without AMD. I would therefore expect a refresh of the 3070, and it being fully 4k capable too.Quote

Yep as a 1080p budget card this is really good value, given the choice I'd have this over a 3070, but i'll see in january no idea what i'll be able to get or when atm, been checking sites for the last month never seen the buy now button even if i had the money.

I can see the 6700 being a £400 card thou but prices atm are way off the msrp, hoping come jan it'll have sorted itself out.

See the sites have listed the cards, but no prices on them atm.

I think if i was to get a 3060ti the extra saved would go towards VR at a later date, but CP2077 is out next week so these will fly off the sites instantly.Quote

Saying the performance will blow you away if you are on 1080ti is perhaps a bit much.

Like Witcher in 1440p : it's a 10 FPS difference. from 95 to 105. About the same elsewhere. I hardly feel a breeze.Quote
