Palit RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 GameRock OC Review

Palit RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 GameRock OC Review

Introduction

If you ask most people to name a graphics card manufacturer they will probably go through a few names before they reach Palit. That isn’t a slur upon the company, more an indication of how, like Zotac and other manufacturers, they fly underneath the radar in the minds of the buying public. We’ve reviewed a lot of Palit cards over the years and always found them to be well built with great performance and those times when the designers do take the cards in a new direction it’s nearly always an interesting one.

Today we’re looking at another pair of entries into their GameRock series of cards, the RTX 3080 and RTX 3090. Both of the two cards we’re reviewing today are the OC models, although plain GameRock cards are available too. By now you’ll all be very familiar with what the newest Nvidia Ampere GPU brings to the party, and fortunately for us the Palit GameRock brings a lot along too. Indeed we’re so impatient to show and tell you what the GameRock offers that we’re going to cut straight to the chase and hurry this along to the next page. Although if you have paid close attention to the image at the top of this page you might have already worked it out.

Technical Specifications

In case you’re wondering why we’re doing these two cards together, the table below and the photos on the next page should give it away. Sure the RTX 3090 has the beefier Ampere GPU and thus higher CUDA cores and Memory Bandwidth to go with its greatly increased memory capacity, but with both cards requiring three 8pin PCIe power inputs, the same set of outputs and the same cooler, it would be too much to split them across two reviews.
