Blender and Wrap-Up

Of course buying a new GPU isn't all about gaming. Okay it's not quite all about gaming. Having more CUDA cores under the hood can help with 3D and video rendering too. Usually for our Blender test we use the CPU only, because that's what we're testing, but for this we've pitted the two Game Rock cards against each other and you can see how the increased CUDA cores on the Ti makes a significant difference. Pool all your systems resources together and the time goes from being one that makes you impatient to being one that makes you wish we used this method all the time.

Palit RTX 3080 Ti OC vs RTX 3080 OC

We know it's not exactly breaking news to say that the RTX 3080 Ti is faster than the RTX 3080, but it is instructive to see how two cards from the same manufacturer (Palit), with the same cooler (the excellent, quiet and cool Game Rock design), on the same drivers, in the same system, can perform. It's also useful to see that the increased hardware on the RTX 3080 Ti can bring you benefits regardless of how strenuous the game you're playing is. Sure the gains in the Ray-Traced titles will be the biggest, but even gentle games can see big gains and, because the card has so much in reserve, at lower temperatures too. It's also worth noting that, although it's been surplanted and might be even more by the Super cards, the RTX 3080 is just as beefy as when we first saw it all those months ago.
