1440p Testing with AMD R9 Fury X and Nvidia GTX 980Ti
We can see at 1440p that our framerate results for the GTX 980Ti and the R9 Fury X are almost identical for the games Lowest, low and medium settings, showing us that with these GPU that our system must be in some way CPU limited, which is a crazy prospect for a system that is running a 4.7GHz Intel i7 6700K Skylake CPU, especially when the game is running at such relatively low framerates.
We can see that with our average framerates being so close to 60 that for the most part the game will be playing at 60FPS at 1440p with medium or lower settings, but due to V-Sync being forced on any drop below 60 is an instant drop to 30PFS, which is a drop that will be easily noticeable to those that are very framerate sensitive.
Moving above medium will result in lower than 30 framerates at times, which is something that makes the game jerky to play at times and really isn't worth the difference in graphical quality.
