XFX Radeon Magnetic Air Review

Up Close – Qicksilver RX 7800 XT

Everyone will have their own opinion. The boss will like the white box and silver highlights. For me though the black box and copper outline is to die for. Just gorgeous. Anyone remember the Peugeot Onyx?

Out of the box and it’s clear what the unique selling point of these two cards is. By packing the fans separately instead of pre-installing them you get a little taste of how it all goes together. The RX 7800 XT has two 100mm fans and a single 90mm fan.

If, like us, you like to keep your heatsink free from dust and cat fluff then the ease of reaching it is heavenly. By having them uninstalled out of the box you can also enjoy a close look at the heatpipe and fin design on the XFX cooler. It’s all very eye-catching.

The fans themselves are dual-bearing models with 70000 hours expected lifespan. You can easily see how the power connects. The Neodymium Iron Boron magnets installed by XFX are capable of holding up 1KG of weight, so it’s fair to say the fan isn’t going anywhere. Perhaps don’t put your drives on the shroud when building your system though eh.

Elsewhere the Qicksilver RX 7800 XT is very much in keeping with XFX design theory. The arctic white model has plentiful vents and cut-outs to help expel the hot air generated by a modern gpu.

Power is provided by two 8pin PCIe connectors. The use of white everywhere also ensures it will fit perfectly within a white build. I’ve no idea who in the office uses white hardware. But it’s a step above a lot of the motherboards we’ve seen recently that prefer to be 50% silver, rather than wholly white.

With the fans in place you would be forgiven for thinking it was always meant to look like this. It just all fits together so well. Time to check out the black XTX card. Onwards.
