Occasionally at OC3D we see a GPU which is instantly grabs our attention, maybe with an insanely high factory overclock or perhaps a form factor which Mini ITX builders will love. Today we have a GPU for all the population of the nation of water cooling, the Zotac GTX 980Ti Arctic Storm, which is in the fairly unique position of using a full cover water block and an air cooler at the same time.

Unlike other Hybrid coolers out there, like AIO based water cooled GPUs, the Zotac GTX 980Ti includes a full on GPU water block and a full on air based cooling solution, meaning that it can take full advantage of water cooling while still being able to be used in a dry system using it's air cooler.

As you can see above the Zotac GTX 980Ti Arctic Storm is cooled by a 3 fan air based cooler, which is 2.5 slots wide. The water cooler on the GPU is a full on water cooling block, which has the standard house routing options that one would associate with a water cooled GPU. The barbs used on this cooler can be unscrewed and replaced with your own if required, giving you the same level of customizability that any water cooler should be used to.

The shroud on the GPU cooler is all black, with the backplate being a rather striking ice blue, which moves to much deeper shades of blue as you reach the edges of the GPU.

Zotac has also provided a brace for this GPU, which can screw directly into the back of it, providing extra support while it is in your case. This GPU is heavy, so the addition of this brace is a great thing to see.

Conclusion and Video

Zalman's GTX 980Ti is a GPU that screams versatility, it can be used in both air cooled and water cooled systems and has a cooler design which looks like it will excel at both. We will be giving this GPU a full review, so rest assured that you will be seeing exactly what this GPU is capable of in both stock and overclocked states.

While this GPU may be expensive at £689.99, remember that this GPU has a full cover water block built in, which are expensive to say the least. EVGA's Hydro Copper GPU currently costs £749.99 on Overclockers UK, and it does not even have an air cooler to fall back on should the user have any issues with his or her water cooling loop.

Personally I canot wait to place this thing into the bench rig, as this card just screams to be overclocked. We will let you know next week how this GPU fares.
