ZOTAC RTX 3080 Ti AMP Holo Review

Let's leave the price aside for a moment. We'll get back to it soon enough.
Whenever a Zotac AMP card appears in the office we always get a frisson of excitement. It's a card that, like the MSI Lightining, Gigabyte Aorus Extreme or ASUS Strix, has a long and storied history of high performance. The RTX 3080 Ti AMP Holo takes a slight step back from the heights of cards before, although it by no means is disgraced. Perhaps we just set our expectations too high.
After all, when we saw the MSI Suprim X and ASUS Strix LC rock up at £1800(!) and the Zotac was just £1399 we knew it was unlikely to match those particular cards. Indeed if we assume that partner cards cost a premium over the Nvidia version then the Zotac is actually priced at the mark we expected when the Ti FE card price was first known.
Performance is good, if not spectacular. It's very much on a par with the Founders Edition card and there or thereabouts with regard to the two partner cards we've looked at. Nothing earth-shattering, but nothing bad. Similar the looks are good, if a tiny bit on the plain side, and the cooling performance is very much where we'd expect a triple fan card to be.
It might sound like we're damning with faint praise, but given that the MSI and ASUS cards were so expensive as to be ignorable on a matter of principle, then the Zotac is much more in line with the looks, performance and price level that we would normally see from a partner vendor. A beefier cooler leads to lower temperatures which in turn allow the GPU Boost 4.0 to work its magic and push the boost clocks higher for a small increase in FPS. That's exactly what we have here, even if those boost clocks don't quite hit the heights of the Suprim X/Strix LC, there is no reason to believe that there isn't enough potential to unlock yet more performance with some careful tweaks.
The Zotac RTX 3080 Ti AMP Holo then. It's more affordable than the other RTX 3080 Ti cards we've looked at, albeit still hilariously expensive. If you absolutely must have one of the new Nvidia cards then it is worthy of a closer look. Zotac products have always been built well and proven themselves reliable in the long-term.Really all depends on how much eTailers want to remove your kidneys for the privilege of owning one.
