Cooler Master MM731 Wireless Mouse Review

Conclusion

Rarely do we get a product which can be summarised so simply. Without a mass of features on board or things to weigh the pros and cons of, the Cooler Master MM731 is one of those mice which almost sells itself.

Do you want a mouse which is designed for larger hands and lengthy gaming sessions, all curvy and smooth rather than multiple textures, indents, creases and buttons? It has you covered. Would you prefer it if your mouse didn’t sit on your pad looking like Oxford Street at Christmas? Tick in the box. Are you tired of having ten different buttons fighting for space and would instead rather have – or perhaps need for physical limitation reasons – just a couple of really obvious buttons? The MM731 is all about making you happy. Would you like your mouse to have all the blazing sensor abilities of a high end modern mouse, ensuring that the accuracy and DPI of your sensor isn’t the limiting factor in your gaming exploits? The 19000 DPI PixArt sensor lives to serve.

That’s it really. If the answer to the above questions is no, then naturally there are dozens of mice on the market that will wow you with an enormous feature list. But when the answer is yes, those options shrink rapidly. One would imagine that these days it would be simplicity itself to have a mouse which is like the old days, just with modern hardware under the hood, but not so. Thankfully the Cooler Master MM731 redresses that balance. Unfortunately the one thing it has learnt from its contemporaries is that high end sensors and wireless connectivity options come with a beefy price tag, so perhaps it’s harder to justify on a scale of price vs features.

However, if you are a fan of simplicity, of unity of purpose, then little else will scratch that itch quite like the Cooler Master MM731. It is very light without having to resort to cutting holes in the case, it has a hugely capable sensor and is extremely comfortable, thus it wins our OC3D Gamers Choice Award.
