Corsair K55 RGB Pro XT Review

Corsair K55 RGB Pro XT Review

Introduction

Keyboards are hugely important. We know that sounds obvious but just think about how much you use them even compared to mice. Sure an accurate mouse will help you get that headshot, or move your army, but you need the WASD keys to get your guy into position in the first place, and dodge the enemy.

Since Cherry first launched their MX switches keyboards have rapidly moved from having multiple types and styles into two distinct categories. On the one hand we have the fully mechanical ones, with RGB lighting and NKEY rollover and all those good things we love, but with a price tag to match. At the other end there tends to be membrane or similar keyboards that might have some lighting and usually in a single colour, but are very affordable.

Corsair seek to bridge that gap with the launch of the K55 RGB Pro XT.

But OC3D, we can hear you cry, Corsair have already done that with the K55. Aha, but the Pro XT one, we reply, is the upgraded version of that. Instead of 8 key rollover – the number of keys you can press at once and still have them reported – it now has 12 key rollover. It’s also a 100g heavier, has improved backlighting and a new wrist rest. Let’s take a look.
