Corsair K60 RGB Pro Review

Corsair K60 RGB Pro Review

Introduction

The last Corsair keyboard we reviewed was their new flagship model, the K100. Whilst the K60 RGB Pro doesn’t exactly sit at the other end of the price spectrum, it’s at least much more in keeping with the kind of money that most people have available to spend on their input devices.

If you glance at the picture at the top of this page you could be forgiven for wondering how a keyboard which outwardly looks as flashy as all the other models in the Corsair K range can be affordable, and the answer my friends is blowing in the wind hidden beneath the surface. The K60 RGB Pro is equipped with a new type of mechanical switch from the Cherry brand that dominates the marketplace in a manner only seen by Omron or PixArt in other fields. Rather than cut down their famous Red or Blue switches, Cherry have designed a wholly new switch – the Viola – designed to bring the robust and tactile typing experience of their other switches to a price point that rivals membrane or scissor switches, without the longevity problems those switches incur.

Additionally the design is all about maximising the amount of your RGB choices that are visible, and Corsair have designed the key caps to help with this by greatly reducing their height as we’ll see on the next page. Beyond the switches it’s everything you have come to expect from a Corsair keyboard in terms of build quality and customisation, just at a more palatable price point.
