Software and Lighting

Having good software is almost as important as having a good quality mouse, and the Cougar software is brilliant. Everything is very clearly laid out, the tool tips are informative, and it all does exactly what you'd expect. As well as the expected sensitivity adjustments you're allowed all of the colours when it comes to the light on the front. The LED is sensitive enough to produce most of them accurately too, something which cannot always be said.

With so many buttons available a less capable software package could make it confusing about which particular button was assigned to what, but the UIX System is crystal clear, and with the buttons nearly always on display you can assign with aplomb.

Besides the standard keystroke style macros the 700M software enables pointer recording too, something which is very rare to find. The macro recording is as simple to operate as the rest of the software package. In total it's a joy.

Rather than have a light that largely is there for the user to demonstrate either that taste in colour schemes, which particular profile they have, or even just be a distracting light in the corner of your eye, the 700M utilises a beam you could use to point out stars in the night sky. It's incredibly difficult to photograph the intensity of the colours

Nice work from Cougar and not to bad on the price point, but I'm not a fan of the styling looks like something Optimus Prime would use as a cod piece.. The EVGA Torx 10 Carbon still gets my vote Quote

It looks like a mix between the Mad Catz Cyborg R.A.T.9, Razer Ouroboros and Optimus Primes knuckle children Quote
