Cougar Deathfire EX Mouse and Keyboard Combo Review

Cougar Deathfire EX Mouse and Keyboard Combo Review

Introduction

Cougar are one of those companies that are flying under the radar a little bit, yet without any obvious reason why. All of their products that we’ve tested manage to blend good build quality with attractive design and aggressive pricing whilst also not skimping on the feature set.

At the end of August we reviewed the Cougar Vantar, a RGB scissor switch keyboard, and found it to be a great affordable offering for those of you who want to take advantage of the RGB lighting that is dominating the current design thinking whilst not breaking the bank.

Today we have the Deathfire EX in for review, and it combines a membrane switch style keyboard that echoes the design of the Vantar, and also comes with a 2000 DPI mouse as well. If you want to get up and running with your peripherals without busting the bank, but still want RGB lighting and full size keys, then maybe the Deathfire EX will fulfil your criteria.

Technical Specifications

Both parts of the Deathfire EX have 8 colour lighting with all the primary options catered for, whilst going without the need to install drivers. Everything is onboard, making it simplicity itself to be up and running without having to fanny about with finding and installing software just to set the colour you desire. With anti-ghosting and RGB lighting on the keyboard, and adjustable DPI alongside RGB lighting and Omron switches on the mouse, a lot of the boxes are ticked.
