Roccat Kain 200 AIMO Wireless Mouse Review

Roccat Kain 200 AIMO Wireless Mouse Review

Introduction

If you’re a regular reader of our musings here at OC3D you’ll be aware that, since they appeared on the market with the Kone, Roccat have been one of our favourite peripheral manufacturers. If we can paraphrase an all-too-popular Youtube comment, we’re simple folks at OC3D. We see a well designed peripheral with lots of user adjustable features and we like it.

Roccat don’t have the same prolific output as some other peripheral creators, but that is largely because their designs hit the nail on the head straight away, so rather than constantly having to paper over cracks with a new name, they keep to established designs and merely update the underlying technology. It’s a very simple formula but one that pays enormous dividends. After all, once your muscle memory is attuned to a particular device it’s a lot easier to have something that feels the same but comes with the latest hardware inside than have to relearn everything just for the sake of getting the hottest sensor.

We’ve already reviewed the Roccat Kain 120, which was the wired version of the mouse we have up for review today, the Roccat Kain 200 AIMO Wireless. It has the same gorgeous finish, the same comfortable feel in the hand, the same blistering sensor and sharp button response. For a large part then we’re just looking at how it has made the transition from wired to wireless, but of course we’ll cover the main points for those of you who didn’t read our 120 AIMO review. Let’s crack on.

Technical Specifications

Mice can be largely handled in three ways. Firstly you want a good sensor. It’s vital that your movements are tracked accurately for those pixel perfect headshots. The PixArt PMW3335 and Roccat Owl-Eye technology gives us a sensor with huge acceleration capabilities and 16000 DPI for those of you who want the fastest response. Secondly you need crisp buttons and the Kain has the famous Omron switches that are so much the standard in gaming mice we really can’t remember the last time we reviewed a rodent that wasn’t equipped with them. Lastly you need customisation options to tailor it to your own preferences. With the EasyShift[+] technology on board that technically doubles the amount of buttons you can configure, alongside the outstanding Roccat RGB lighting system, there is enough to keep everyone happy.
