G.Skill Trident Z Royal Series

G.Skill Trident Z Royal Series

Introduction

The G.Skill Trident range has been a stellar performer for about as long as we’ve been writing about hardware for you good folks. From some legendary kits that overclocked faster than a stabbed rats, to some that blew us away with fantastic heatspreaders, wherever there are people who lust after memory sticks, there will be a G.Skill setup.

The latest addition to their Trident Z range is the Royal Series. Available in extremely glitzy gold or Silver, they are all buffed to a mirrored sheen and come equipped with full RGB lighting, as you can see from the image at the top of this page.

Whilst taking the Gold option is going down quite a committal route and probably will be attractive to certain types of people more than others, the Silver is a perfect match for the monochrome colouring that now forms the basis for pretty much every current system. Naturally when given the opportunity to cast our eye over the Royal Series we therefore asked for the Silver model, and the next few pages are dedicated to showing off how glorious it is to look at.

Sit tight. Credit cards at the ready.

Technical Specifications

Often when a special edition DDR4 kit gets released it’s at the absolute top end of any manufacturers range which can be problematic if you adore the looks but are on a limited budget. G.Skill have made sure that anyone who is remotely interested in the aesthetics will be able to purchase the kit, by bringing it out in multiple speeds and capacities. Something other manufacturers would do well to copy.

That’s all well and good of course, but because of the consistency of modern memory kits we know that performance is less important than it used to be and thus looks determine whether you add it to your wishlist, so let’s get on and look at it in the flesh instead of waffling on about the minor variances in kit type.
