Conclusion
We do like simple decisions. The TridentZ5 is one of those nice and obvious products where you can almost follow a flow chart. Are you budget limited? If so, perhaps stick with a DDR4 kit or an affordable DDR5 kit with the lowest timings you can budget to. If you aren't, do you want to squeeze every last drop of performance from your new Alder Lake setup? If not, then grab any kit in stock and enjoy. If you do, then the G.Skill TridentZ5 6000MHz 32GB kit is the one to grab.
We're not going to pretend this will be a life-changing amount of performance gained. Nor would we remotely recommend it to someone who isn't rocking up with the latest Core i9-12900K in their system. This is for those of you on the leading edge of performance where even a 0.1% performance gain is something you'll be striving for.
However, and this is where the newest G.Skill offering takes home the laurel wreath of victory, if you want to hone every last component in your system to ensure that you're extracting the maximum possible performance then there is no need to look elsewhere. The 6000MHz should normally be enough to edge it to the top of our performance graphs, but by combining that with 36 timings instead of the 40 we've seen up to now gives it that last bit of gilding to put it over the edge into needful territory.
You already knew going in to this conclusion whether the TridentZ5 had tempted you. It performs exactly as you'd hope, and with both silver and black variants available it will fit in to your system aesthetically too. The only question is one of finances, and that's down to the individual. If you can afford it, you'll thank yourself. The G.Skill TridentZ5 DDR5 6000MHz 32GB kit is fast enough to win our OC3D Performance Award.
